Tanzanian First Gentleman Hafidh Ameir Hassan Dies
The husband of Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Hafidh Ameir Hassan, has died.
BBC News reports that he passed away yesterday while receiving treatment for a heart condition at a health facility in Zanzibar.
Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi confirmed the death in a statement yesterday morning.

According to the statement, funeral arrangements are underway in Kizimkazi, a village on Tanzania’s semi-autonomous island of Zanzibar.
Ndejembi conveyed condolences to President Hassan and Ameir’s family, describing the deceased as the President’s lifelong companion.
Kenyan President William Ruto also mourned Ameir, saying he received news of his death with “deep sorrow”.
