“Truth Dies When Politicians Feed You” Says AY Makun
Popular comedian and filmmaker AY Makun has called on Nigerians to confront the country’s challenges with honesty following the recent kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
In a video posted on Instagram, Makun pointed out that the financial reliance on politicians often silences critical voices.
“It’s time we tell ourselves some truths. When your source of livelihood depends on politics or politicians, your conscience d!es and telling the truth becomes your greatest feår,” he stated.

He argued that such ties weaken accountability at a time when the nation faces pressing security and governance issues.
Speaking further, Makun warned against framing national problems through narrow lenses. “Today, we are dealing with matters that affect the country, not a political party, tribe, or religion,” he said.
He urged citizens to focus on shared responsibility instead. “We need to reflect deeply on the state of the nation and our collective responsibility as Nigerians.”
Meanwhile, this comments came amid growing public concern over insecurity, including recent abductions of students and teachers in Oyo State.
