Two men have been arrested by the Lagos state police command for trafficking six underage girls to Abidjan, Cote’devoir.

The suspects; Tayo, a mechanic and Kunle Lasisi were alleged to have conspired between themselves to traffick a 17-year old Ibrahim Opeyemi to Abidjan for child labour before the girl’s grandmother get to know about it and promptly informed members of Human Rights Advocacy group who then involved the Police at Oko-oba. Tayo was arrested in the process, and during interogations he said that he only introduced Opeyemi to the agent.

Tayo however led the Police to Ikotun, Lagos state where his accomplice, Kunle Lasisi was also arrested.

Kunle Lasisi later called the female trafficker who promised to send Opeyemi back to Nigeria, which she did on Tuesday, 27 September. Opeyemi has been handed over to her grandmother.

Speaking with our reporter, Mr Titus Obey said that the matter must not be treated with a kid gloves so that the remaining girls can be rescued.
