Tyla Wins Big At 2026 AMAs
South African singer Tyla made history at the 2026 American Music Awards yesterday by winning two major awards.
She became the only African artiste to secure a win at the 52nd edition of the ceremony.
The singer, whose full name is Tyla Laura Seethal, took home Best Afrobeats Artist, she also beat fellow nominees like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, and Moliy for the category.

Tyla also won Social Song of the Year, a fan-voted award, for her hit single “Chanel,” adding to her successful night at the event.
Heading into the ceremony, the “Water” hitmaker led African acts with four nominations. Her other awards included Best Music Video and Best Female R&B Artist.
The Johannesburg-born star first gained global attention in 2023 with “Water.”
The Amapiano-R&B track went viral, reaching the United States Billboard Hot 100 top 10, and earned her a Grammy for Best African Music Performance.
