‎Tyla Wins Big At 2026 AMAs

South African singer Tyla made history at the 2026 American Music Awards yesterday by winning two major awards. 

‎She became the only African artiste to secure a win at the 52nd edition of the ceremony.

‎The singer, whose full name is Tyla Laura Seethal, took home Best Afrobeats Artist, she also beat fellow nominees like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, and Moliy for the category.

‎Tyla also won Social Song of the Year, a fan-voted award, for her hit single “Chanel,” adding to her successful night at the event.

‎Heading into the ceremony, the “Water” hitmaker led African acts with four nominations. Her other awards included Best Music Video and Best Female R&B Artist.

‎The Johannesburg-born star first gained global attention in 2023 with “Water.”

‎The Amapiano-R&B track went viral, reaching the United States Billboard Hot 100 top 10, and earned her a Grammy for Best African Music Performance.
