Veteran Nollywood Actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Dies At 66 After Cancer Battle

Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66.

The Yoruba film star reportedly passed away today after a battle with cancer, plunging the industry and fans into mourning.

An emotional video circulating on social media showed his daughter, Kira Taiwo, in tears as she announced the news. In the clip, she was heard repeatedly saying, “My daddy is dead.”

The death comes just days after Kira and her sister, Haleemah, publicly disclosed that their father had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. The sisters had appealed for public support and prayers as the family sought treatment options for the ailing actor.

Taiwo Hassan was one of the most recognizable faces in Yoruba-language cinema. With a career spanning decades, he built a reputation for commanding roles, powerful screen presence, and memorable performances that made him a household name across Nigeria and beyond.

Tributes have began pouring in from colleagues, fans, and industry stakeholders who described him as a pillar of Nollywood and a man who helped shape the growth of indigenous films.
