Serving Police Officers Protest Exclusion From Promotion, As Retired Colleagues Make List

There is disquiet in the Nigeria Police Force as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP’s) that are still in service are grumbling as their names were omitted from promotion lists while majority of their colleagues whom they claim were promoted along with them in 2020 and had since retired from the police were amongst the recently promoted officers.
Ogun State Police Command is the most hit as many of the names on the promotion list have since been retired.
A visibly angry officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity and serving in Ogun State Police Command said that most of them have gone to the Ogun State command head quarters Eleweran to complain and that they were told to go and do their documentation after which they go for the promotion exam. He claimed this will take up to six months if not one year.

“As I speak to you, over 50 percent that were promoted in this Ogun State command have since retired while we that are still in service are not on the list. Some of my colleagues that went to the State Command Headquarters to complain were asked to go and do documentation after which they will go for the promotion exam which will take up to six months if not one year,” the source said.
When our Correspondent contacted the Force Police Public Relations Officer FPPRO Chief Superintendent of Police CSP Ani Iniedu for his comment, he directed him to his second in command (2ic) Superintendent of Police SP Nova Charles Ndifreke for comment as he claimed that he was very busy.
When our reporter contacted the second in command, SP Nova Charles Ndifreke she said that she was not on seat that our reporter should call her back the following day, and when our reporter called her back the following day she requested that he should message her on Whatsapp, which he did.
But as at the time of filing this report, she is yet to respond. Our reporter even called the Police Service Commission PSC on their cell phone number +2347034072676 several times but the number did not go through also as at the time of filing this report.
