Mr Real Questions Men Who Reject Having Children

Popular Nigerian singer, Mr Real, has triggered a debate on childlessness after criticizing men who say they do not want to have children.
The singer shared his thoughts in an Instagram post yesterday, where he argued that women have more understandable reasons for making such a decision than men.
His comment has triggered conversations around the different societal expectations placed on men and women regarding parenthood, marriage and family life.

In the post, Mr Real stated that he could relate to a woman choosing to remain child-free, but could not comprehend why a man would make the same choice.
He wrote, “Is understandable if a woman says she don’t wanna have kids in this life very understandable.”
“But you as a man saying you don’t want kids bro you be agege,” he added.
The term ‘agege’ was used in a derogatory manner in the post, although the singer did not explain what he meant by it.
Mr Real’s remarks represent his personal opinion on parenthood and do not reflect an established position on men who choose not to have children.
His post touches on a wider social discussion about whether men and women are judged differently when they decide against becoming parents.
While many still see having children as central to family life, others opt to remain child-free for personal, financial or other reasons.
