Dangote Hails Burna Boy For Promoting Nigeria

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has commended Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy for projecting Nigeria positively on the global stage.

Dangote disclosed that Burna Boy’s billboard was the first thing he noticed when he visited Grenada in the Caribbean.

He made the statement during a media briefing where he spoke about the rising global influence of Nigerian music and the role entertainers play in shaping the country’s international image.

According to the billionaire businessman, seeing the singer’s image prominently displayed on the island showed how far Nigerian music has travelled and how its stars have become global figures.

Dangote noted that Nigerian personalities who portray the country in good light deserve more recognition, adding that the focus should be on positive achievements that enhance Nigeria’s reputation abroad.

“The first time I went to Grenada, the first billboard that I saw was Burna Boy,” Dangote said.

He described Nigerian entertainers as ambassadors whose contributions should be celebrated, rather than focusing only on negative reports about Nigerians abroad.

“These are our ambassadors, and this is what we need to be talking about,” he added.

The industrialist’s comment underscores how entertainment is increasingly shaping global perceptions of Nigeria beyond business and politics.

Dangote’s praise comes at a time Burna Boy continues to earn international recognition. The singer was recently listed by Forbes among 15 African Icons, a list that also featured Dangote himself, WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and media entrepreneur Mo Abudu.
