Setting the record straight: A Response to Malicious Allegations…Comrade Tony Adun a.k.a Kabaka

We are compelled to address the false and misleading information circulating on social media, alleging that the State Youth Leader of APC, led thugs to disrupt the activities of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Edo State. This baseless accusation is a desperate attempt to tarnish our reputation and divert attention from the real issues.

The truth is that on July 18, 2024, our party faithful gathered to receive our governorship candidate at the Benin Airport, a peaceful and lawful assembly. However, our convoy was ambushed by thugs wearing Edo State Vigilante uniforms and known faces working with the Edo government, who opened fire on us, killing a serving police inspector and injuring many others. This brutal attack was unprovoked and orchestrated by those who seek to silence us.

We marched to the police headquarters with the corpse of the slain officer, accompanied by emotional supporters, to demand justice and accountability. A minor altercation occurred near the NBA office, but thanks to quick intervention, no one was hurt. We appealed to the NBA members, with whom we have always maintained a cordial relationship, to disregard the incident and continue their noble work upholding the law.

We urge the public to disregard any further misleading information on social media. The facts are clear: we were victims of a brutal attack, not perpetrators of violence. We will not be intimidated or deterred from our mission to promote peace, justice, and development in Edo State.

Let us focus on promoting peace and sanity in our state, rather than spreading falsehoods and fueling division. We demand an apology from those responsible for this malicious propaganda and assure our supporters that we will continue to work tirelessly for a better Edo State.”
