Uzodimma Mocks Davido Over Osun Election Comments

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has fired back at Afrobeats star Davido following the singer’s call for a free and fair Osun governorship election.
Davido has earlier urged an unnamed Imo politician not to interfere in the August 15 poll while campaigning for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Responding through his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Uzodimma dismissed the appeal, saying that it was misplaced for Davido to address the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum because his wife is from Imo.

The governor argued the appeal should be made to Osun voters instead, since they will decide the outcome.
Uzodimma restated his commitment to a peaceful and credible election, while also emphasizing the APC would keep mobilizing support for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Furthermore, the governor also accused Adeleke of failing in office and claimed many Osun residents were ready to vote for a change.
The governor said signs across the state point to growing rejection of the current administration. He insisted voters are prepared to embrace new leadership and move the state in a different direction.
Uzodimma advised Davido to focus on his uncle’s post-election plans rather than emotional appeals.
He suggested Davido should prepare to sign Adeleke as a dancer in his band, adding that the governor may be out of office after the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
