Victony, Davido, Timaya Demand Rescue of Abducted Oyo Students, Teachers

Some prominent musicians have joined growing calls for the rescue of pupils, students and teachers abducted by gunmen on May 15, 2026, from Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, Community Grammar School, and L.A Primary School in Esiele, all in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

It was gathered that 39 students and seven teachers were kidnapped, while two teachers have been killed, sparking national outrage both on the social media and public space.

Singer Victony called on President Bola Tinubu via his official X handle (formally twitter) to address insecurity crisis and free all kidnap victims, especially children.

“Save our children & Put an end to this mess @officialABAT,” he stated.

Davido expressed his displeasure towards the incident and the suffering of the victims in captivity.

Reacting to reports of the victims’ via his Snapchat page, he wrote that: “I’m weak. God pls take control. We can’t continue like this… my heart goes out to the victims and family .. this is messed up.”

He added that the current insecurity must not be allowed to continue.

Timaya also released a statement pleading with the Presidency to take urgent steps on the escalating insecurity.

“We appeal to the Government for even greater urgency, collaboration, and action in addressing the growing security challenges facing many parts of our country,” the statement read in part,” he pleaded.
