10 Suspects Arrested for Cult Clash

Ten suspected members of two rival cult groups; eiye and aiye confraternities have been arrested by a team of policemen after a clash.
On 21 September, Police received a distress call of a fire outbreak at Chukuma Hotel by Babashola Street, Itire, and a combined team of Policemen and Fire-fighters was mobilized to the scene. The fire was eventually put off.
But preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was set by some cult groups (Eiye and Aiye confraternity) that clashed at a drinking joint in the hotel.
Trouble was said to have started at about when a hot argument ensued between members of the two rival gangs in the joint.
The son of the hotel owner, who is now at large, was said to have stabbed a member of a rival gang identified as Aliu Lamidi in the neck. The victim was rushed to hospital where he eventually died.
Three vehicles that were parked by the road side were also razed. About 10 suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, while security is beefed up in the affected area. -Story by DEDEIGBO AYODEJI
