A$AP Rocky Recalls Historic Dior Modeling Deal

Rapper and fashion icon A$AP Rocky has reflected on his groundbreaking deal with French luxury house Dior, saying he was the first Black male model signed by the brand.

This was disclosed in a video which surfaced on the social media, Rocky highlighted the milestone and also pointed to singer Rihanna’s own history with the fashion house.

“I was the first black male model signed to Dior and I’m very proud of that,” he said.

He added that, “Rihanna was the first black lady signed to Dior. I don’t know why I just said that, but I did.”

Rocky has long been known for his influence in fashion, often blending music with high-end style. His Dior campaign in 2016 marked a major moment for representation in luxury fashion.

It was also gathered that, Rihanna was named Dior’s first Black global ambassador for its cosmetics line in 2015, and later became the face of the brand’s womenswear and fragrance campaigns.
