DJ Chicken Remanded Over Alleged Threat Video

Popular Nigerian content creator DJ Chicken has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after his arraignment at a Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos State.

NEWSCARTE reported that he was charged over a viral video where he allegedly threatened to kill Seyi Tinubu and claimed that President Bola Tinubu would not win re-election in 2027.

He is facing three counts relating to alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of the peace, and issuing threats to kill.

After the video went viral, DJ Chicken publicly reverted his comments, saying they were meant as a joke to get attention, but despite the apology, he was arrested and arraigned.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The court granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like sum. One surety must be a civil servant, and the other must be a community leader who owns landed property in Lagos State.

The court also ordered that the sureties provide three years’ tax clearance, utility bills, their National Identification Number (NIN), and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) registration.

In addition, one of the sureties must be a blood relative.

Meanwhile the case was adjourned until 3 August 2026, while DJ Chicken will remain in custody until he meets his bail conditions.
