Independence Day: Police Assures Maximum Security

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Lawal Shehu, has assured members of the public in Lagos and Ogun States a peaceful Independence Day Celebration.
He said all necessary security measures have been put in place to avoid any mishap/crisis before, during and after the Independence Day celebration.
“Usually during ’ember months’ (September, October, November & December) crime and criminality are always on the increase, the AIG urges members of the public to be careful, vigilant and safe in their dealings and movements.
“The AIG has directed the Commissioners of Police in charge of Lagos and Ogun States to beef up security in their respective states while he has simultaneously deployed Strike Forces and Specialized Units of the force to strategic points within the two states to monitor activities capable of breaking down law and order.
“Furthermore, the AIG urges the public to promptly report any suspicious person or movement to the Police. Our priority is to prevent crime, the support from members of the public plays a huge part in checkmating and combating the activities of the hoodlums within the Zone.
“On behalf of officers and men of the Command, the AIG wishes all residents of Lagos and Ogun States a happy independence celebration,” a statement signed by DSP. Hauwa Idris-Adamu, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer,
