Broda Shaggi Speaks On Surviving Stray Bullet

Popular Nollywood actor and skit maker, Samuel Perry, better known as Broda Shaggi, has opened up on how a stray bullet injury forced him off work for months and left him battling fear over his career.
In a YouTube video shared on Wednesday night, the entertainer gave a first-hand account of the incident, corroborating an earlier exclusive report by PUNCH Online.
It was gathered that in March 2026 that Shaggi sustained a gunshot injury on a Sunday afternoon while shooting a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge.
Though details around the shooting were unclear at the time, a police source who pleaded anonymity said the content creator was hit by a bullet. The Ogun State Police Command, through its spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, however said it could not confirm if the incident happened within its jurisdiction and cautioned against spreading unverified reports while investigation was ongoing.
Narrating his ordeal, Shaggi said he was on a routine brand activation job when he was hit by the stray bullet. He said panic set in immediately after he saw blood gushing from his body.
According to him, he lost consciousness before getting to the hospital and only recalls praying all the way until he received first aid at the first facility they got to.
“I was totally unconscious until I got to the hospital. I don’t even know how we got there. What I remember is praying non-stop until we got to the first hospital where they gave me first aid,” he recounted.
He described the moment as chaotic, noting that he was sweating profusely, clutching his leg and desperate to hear reassurance from a medical personnel that he would be fine.
The comedian said the injury left him anxious about his future, especially since his craft involves a lot of physical activity like dancing, singing and drumming.
He disclosed that he has been on a relentless work schedule since 2018, juggling writing, shooting, recording music and travelling without a break.
Being away from the spotlight for months, he admitted, made him scared that fans might move on and forget him.
To stay busy while hospitalised, Shaggi said he resorted to writing and launching a YouTube series, but confessed there were emotional moments when he saw colleagues creating content.
“There were times I would watch videos of my colleagues, laugh and then suddenly start crying because I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to do those things again,” he said.
Shaggi revealed he had an initial surgery in Nigeria and was advised to undergo further treatment and physiotherapy. After about four months, he opted to continue his treatment in Dubai.
He said his recovery in Dubai was rapid, stating that he stood with support a day after the procedure and started walking with crutches by the third day.
Reflecting on the incident, he expressed gratitude that the bullet hit his hip and not a more sensitive part of his body.
“It was a stray bullet that hit my hip. What if it had hit my head or any other vital organ?” he queried.
Giving an update on his health, the comic act said although he still uses crutches for support, he can now stand on his own, unlike before when he could not even place his leg on the ground.
He described his survival and recovery as a second chance at life and assured fans of his full return with exciting new projects.
“I’m grateful to be alive. It’s a second chance. You should be happy to have Shaggy back on your screens because I’m coming with a lot of exciting projects,” he added.
